God of this mortal world

I titled my painting Lakshmi which I finished recently. Why did I do so? Who is Lakshmi?

Lakshmi is a Hindu goddess considered the deity of prosperity, edible, and wealth. She is the power of Lord Narayana nourishing this infinite mundane life by providing food and wealth. But from a terrestrial perspective, we see those farmers serve the hardest exertion to provide foodstuffs. In the extensive sunlight or haphazard rain, they work yearlong consistently in open fields without interruption.

In my wisdom, I found Maa Lakshmi and her enormous power in those farmers produce several foods yearlong to make us exist.

In the interior area of Bengal, I often experience those farmers working hard in the cornfield, and such experience motivated me to expose on canvas what I felt.

Title - Lakshmi. Medium - Acrylic on canvas. Size - H - 32 x W - 27 inches.

My Recognition

In March 2022, Art Mania Foundation organized an exhibition on the eve of Women’s Day. They also announced that selected artists will be awarded for their work. I joined the event and submitted my paintings. The criteria were to emphasize the power of females that prominently show their importance in our human life.

One of the paintings I submitted was about the perspective of motherly emotion. It was titled Durga the Holy Mother. It won the first prize. It’s the second award I won from India.

Here I want to say a few words about the awarded painting. Deity Durga is considered the reason behind forming this universe. With her enormous power, she holds the creation and nourishes each of the particles of this endless universe. Hindu Purana says if she stops her actions, this universe will be shortened back and end to her absolutely. Deity Durga is also known as Prakriti (nature). All the things happening in nature is a manifestation of her supreme power.

Therefore, Hindu philosophy says that she is the Mother of all the creations, and all the female is just a short replica of that absolute female power. We must have to show reverence to all the females, which would be a kind of worship for that supreme power.

In my painting, I have shown the same perspective as considered by the Hindu spiritual culture. All of us are the son of that universal mother, and she keeps us safe in all aspects. The painting demonstrated a child as a metaphor for the human being who is on the lap of the mother. Mother is feeding the breast to the child and also keeping her child safe from all the disasters.

This painting is still available in the online store of my website. To purchase this painting, please take a while to visit my storefront.  You can contact me to get the details about what you need before purchasing.
